Hillview Mental Health Center

Hillview Mental Health Center has been serving the East San Fernando Valley for over 50 years, providing comprehensive mental health services to individuals most in need. Our mission is to empower adults and youths affected by mental illness and substance abuse disorders to flourish and live productive, fulfilling lives. We offer a full range of outpatient behavioral health and substance use disorder services, addressing not only mental health but also the practical needs such as housing, employment, and transportation. Our approach is culturally sensitive and focused on individualized attention to empower our clients to live as independently as possible as participating members of the community.

Overview

With a staff of psychiatrists, nurses, clinicians, recreational therapists, and case managers, we provide medication evaluation and treatment, individual or group therapy, case management, substance abuse treatment, and crisis management. Our services are tailored to meet the unique needs of each client, recognizing that mental illness impacts all facets of life. We have expertise in helping clients who suffer from drug or alcohol abuse, as well as those newly released from jail or prison to successfully re-enter society. Serving more than 2,000 clients, Hillview Mental Health Center is committed to treating each client with dignity and compassion, helping them identify their needs and goals and maximize their strengths.

History

Hillview's founding is rooted in the vision of Carl C. McCraven, who settled in the East San Fernando Valley in the 1950s. Recognizing the lack of mental health services in the area, McCraven dedicated himself to establishing a comprehensive mental health center. Since its inception, Hillview has grown to become a trusted provider of mental health services, working closely with government and community agencies to address the complex needs of our clients.
