Fox Valley Ballet

Fox Valley Ballet is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization dedicated to serving the greater Fox Valley area of Northern Illinois. Our mission is to bring the joy and artistry of dance to the Fox Valley region through pre-professional ballet training and performances. We are committed to supporting the training and artistic excellence of pre-professional dancers by providing education, performance, and community outreach in an encouraging and inspirational environment.

Performances

Fox Valley Ballet offers a range of performances throughout the year, showcasing the talents of our pre-professional dancers. Our flagship performance is The Fox Valley Nutcracker, a beloved holiday tradition that has been enjoyed by audiences for many years. We also offer a variety of other performances, including our annual Fox Valley Ballet performances and special workshops.

Workshops

Fox Valley Ballet offers a variety of workshops throughout the year, providing dancers with the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and hone their skills. Our Winter Workshop is a popular event, offering intermediate and advanced dancers age 11 and up the chance to work with Ashlie Andersen, our Artistic Director, for a 90-minute workshop focusing on ballet technique, modern, and contemporary dance.

Scholarship Program

Fox Valley Ballet is proud to offer a scholarship program for students within the Fox Valley region who show talent in the field of dance but are financially prohibited from participating in dance programs or furthering their dance training. The scholarship provides partial financial support towards class tuition at their current dance training facility, summer intensives, or special dance workshops. Since 2019, we have awarded over $10,000 in scholarships to deserving students.

Scholarship Eligibility

To be eligible for a Fox Valley Ballet Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Must be between the ages of 10 and 18 at the time of the application deadline
• Must reside within the Fox Valley region, including the Chicago suburbs
• Must study at a dance studio within the Fox Valley region, including the Chicago suburbs
• Must have at least 2 years of prior formal dance training
• Must demonstrate talent and potential for further growth in the field of dance
• Cannot have received a Fox Valley Ballet Scholarship in the last year

Scholarship Expectations

Scholarship recipients will be expected to meet the following expectations to continue receiving funding:

• Must demonstrate dedication to the art of dance
• Must demonstrate dedication to their dance training
• Must maintain excellent attendance with no unexcused absences
• Must demonstrate positive behavior in the classroom and strive to be a good role model for other students
• Must volunteer for at least one Fox Valley Ballet event within one year of receiving the scholarship

Application Requirements

To apply for a Fox Valley Ballet Scholarship, applicants must submit the following:

• Completed application form
• Fox Valley Ballet Release of Liability and Photography Release Waiver
• Letter of recommendation from a current dance teacher or studio director
• Verification of the number of hours spent in technique class per week
• Verification of the number of years spent training with this teacher/studio
• Essay portion, including how dance positively impacts their life, how they envision their future in dance, and what the scholarship would mean to them in achieving those goals
• Application video, including two contrasting pieces (one piece must be classical ballet)
