Our Mission: Why We Started Elder Guide
At ElderGuide.com, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate information to help you navigate the process of finding a quality nursing home. We believe that everyone deserves the best possible care and are committed to helping you make informed decisions about your long-term care options.
Our Mission: Why We Started Elder Guide
The United States is facing a nursing home crisis on two fronts: a demographic crisis and an information crisis. As the population ages, the demand for nursing home beds is increasing, leading to higher prices and often lower quality of care. Moreover, the lack of transparency in the industry has led to placements being made blindly or out of convenience, rather than based on the best interests of the resident.
Our Six Guiding Principles
To address these issues, we have established six guiding principles that drive our mission:
1. No Fees: We provide information free of charge to the consumer.
2. Transparency: We share our data sources and much of our methodology, allowing you to see how we reached our evaluations.
3. No Commissions: We do not receive commissions from nursing homes for placing you in a facility.
4. Data-Driven Assessments: Our evaluations are based on data obtained from government databases, much of which is collected by independent government inspectors.
5. Fairness: We rate non-profit and government-owned facilities with little or no marketing budgets on the same scale as for-profit nursing homes with deep pockets.
6. Champions for the Seniors: We will always be in your corner, providing information on related topics such as navigating paying for nursing home care and nursing home alternatives.
Core Missions
Our core missions include:
1. Trusted Advisor: We will always provide you with the most thorough and accurate information we can find. We launched Elder Guide to help people navigate the process of finding a quality nursing home, but we aren't stopping there. We compiled lists of hospitals and dialysis centers across the nation and feature a list of these local medical facilities on every nursing home page. We also provide information on alternatives to nursing home care, as well as strategies for paying for your long-term care.
2. Future-Focused: We are already scanning the horizon for the next challenge in long-term care. We are currently building a 50-state guide to assist people in understanding how long-term care Medicaid works and how to qualify to have your nursing home bills paid by your state's Medicaid program. We will go the extra mile for you.
