At Metropolitan Ballet Academy, we are dedicated to providing exceptional classical ballet training to students of all ages and skill levels. As a nationally recognized school, we are committed to cultivating top talent and nurturing the artistic abilities of each individual. Our mission is to promote a love and appreciation of dance in our community through performances, community outreach, and scholarship programs.

Our History and Philosophy

Founded in 1996 in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, Metropolitan Ballet Academy is a classical ballet school that provides performance training for students ages three through adult and pre-professional dancers. Our Artistic Director and Founder, Lisa Collins Vidnovic, brings a wealth of teaching and performance experience to our school, having danced for 10 years with Pennsylvania Ballet and worked with some of the world's preeminent choreographers. Our curriculum combines professional expertise with genuine sensitivity and an appreciation of the special needs of the young and aspiring dancer.

Our Faculty and Performance Opportunities

Our faculty consists of highly trained and experienced instructors who are dedicated to providing high-quality, professional training. We offer a range of classes and programs, including classical ballet technique, pointe, modern, jazz, and character dance. Our students have the opportunity to perform in numerous productions throughout the year, including our annual spring performance and other regional arts events. We also offer a boys' scholarship program, summer intensive and children's camps, and outreach programs to promote dance in our community.

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to foster musical awareness and artistic expression in our students. We believe in providing a positive and encouraging atmosphere where children can learn to develop their unique artistic qualities. Our lessons are designed to combine technical training with artistic expression, and we offer classes tailored to each age group. We also offer additional opportunities for serious students and advanced dancers, including work with nationally-recognized choreographers, performances with Metropolitan Ballet Company and other regional arts companies, and more.

Our Accomplishments

We are proud of our students' many accomplishments, including winning First, Second, and Third Place awards at the Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) Regional Semi-Finals and advancing to the YAGP New York City Finals. Our Artistic Director, Lisa Collins Vidnovic, has also received YAGP's Outstanding Teacher Award in Philadelphia in 2011, 2013, and 2016.
