Not too long ago, the western slope of Colorado was left with a significant gap in mental health services when three inpatient psychiatric units closed down. Recognizing the urgent need for life-saving treatment in the region, West Springs Hospital opened its doors in 2005, becoming the sole inpatient psychiatric facility between Denver and Salt Lake City. However, the original hospital quickly found itself operating at full capacity on a daily basis, leaving many individuals in dire need of help waiting for admission. To address this critical issue, the state-of-the-art West Springs Hospital opened in December 2018, boasting twice the capacity and an environment designed to promote healing, safety, and comfort.
