Great Bay Kennel

At Great Bay Kennel, we are dedicated to providing the utmost care and attention to your beloved pets. Our mission is to create a nurturing, healthy, and happy environment for your pets while they stay with us. We are a veterinary-owned and veterinary-managed kennel, and we take the responsibility of caring for your pets very seriously. Our team is comprised of experienced staff members who have completed training in emergency first aid, medicine administration, animal behavior, and proper handling. We are committed to providing a safe and comfortable space for all pets, and we strive to cater to their individual needs as much as possible.

Great Bay Kennel was originally built in 1993 by Geoff and Jaki Sawyer, who quickly established a reputation for providing quality pet care in the Seacoast area. In 2014, the Kennel was purchased by Doctor Jim and Carla McKiernan, owners of Great Bay Animal Hospital located next door. Since then, the Kennel has undergone extensive renovations and a brand new Dog Daycare facility has been built. Our goal is to create a "pet campus" that provides the happiest, healthiest, and safest environment for our furry family members.

Boarding Services

We offer professional pet boarding services for dogs, cats, and most exotic species. Our facilities are cleaned and disinfected multiple times daily and we follow stringent sanitation guidelines for boarding kennels outlined by the American Veterinary Medical Association. This ensures a healthy and safe environment for your pet. We have over 50 years of combined experience in pet care and our staff is professionally trained and passionate about animals.

Our pick-up and drop-off times are flexible, with pick-ups between 8 am and 12 pm and drop-offs between 2 pm and 6 pm. We understand that emergencies happen and are able to make special arrangements for check-ins and check-outs outside of these hours for a $20 charge. Our facilities are conveniently located in Durham, NH and we are open 7 days a week, including holidays.

Dog Boarding

Our dog boarding facilities include covered outside runs, a large exercise area, and multiple nature paths for walking. We provide comfortable bedding, including raised, orthopedic Kuranda beds, and in-floor radiant heat to keep older dogs comfortable. Our climate-controlled and air-filtered environment ensures that your dog stays healthy during their stay. We also have Icalm speakers and adaptil diffusers to help keep your dog calm and relaxed.

Cat Boarding

Our cat boarding facilities include side-by-side condos with outside windows and bird feeders and a fish tank for mental stimulation. We provide comfortable bedding and Icalm speakers and adaptil diffusers to create a calming environment. Our outdoor cat viewing garden space and new cat viewing windows provide enrichment and entertainment for your feline friend.

Daycare Services

In addition to our boarding services, we also offer dog daycare and day boarding services. Our 6000 square foot play yard provides ample space for your dog to play and socialize with other dogs. We offer multiple walks and supervised socialization groups or one-on-one playtime for dogs who prefer human interaction. Our brand-new dog playground equipment provides endless fun for your pet.

Grooming Services

We offer full grooming services for dogs and cats. Our experienced groomers will pamper your pet and ensure that they look and feel their best.

Requirements

For your dog to be eligible to participate in our dog daycare program, they must be spayed or neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and pass a temperament test. Our team is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all dogs in our care.
