Burks' Bookkeeping & Tax Service has been a trusted provider of quality and affordable tax preparation services on the peninsula since 1967. Our Team

Our team is the backbone of our business, with a combined experience of 125 years in tax preparation. Each year, our preparers complete a minimum of 15 hours of continuing education to stay up-to-date with the latest tax law changes. Our team includes:

• Jerry Burks, Chief Executive Officer, graduated from Virginia Tech in 1966 with a Bachelor in Science in Accounting. Jerry became an IRS Registered Tax Return Preparer in 2012 and is now mostly retired, but continues to be the nonprofit return specialist for the firm.
• Stephanie Burks-Sarris, Chief Financial Officer, has been with the firm since 1986 and has a BA in History from CNU. Stephanie became a tax preparer in 1988, passed the IRS Registered Tax Return Preparer exam in 2012, and has been the Office Manager since 1998. She is the firm's Trust and Estate tax specialist.
• Jennifer Sunders, Chief Operating Officer, has been with Burks' Bookkeeping and Tax Service since April of 1996. Jennifer is the firm's Payroll Manager, handles payroll processing, and is a member of the American Payroll Association. She also does bookkeeping and tax preparation, including gift tax returns.
• Jim Sarris, Technical & IT Services / Admin, joined the firm in 2009 as a part-time administrative assistant. He handles our IT department, computer security, and document management and security. Jim is a New York native and grew up in an Air Force family, moving all around the country and to Japan during his dad's career.

Our accounting services are tailored to the needs of small businesses of all kinds. We provide monthly and quarterly accounting services to make your record keeping and year-end tax filing as easy as possible. We offer profit and loss statements, unaudited financial statements, and bank reconciliations.
