Meyers Lumber is built upon promoting environmental responsibility and greater awareness of our urban forests. Working in cooperation with city municipalities, arborists, and home owners of the metropolitan area in and around Chicago, we salvage and reclaim trees and lumber, showcasing the beauty and character of our local hardwoods. This approach not only supports sustainability but also tells the story of our urban forests. With over 35 years of experience in the custom cabinet field, we've developed a unique position to help others select the right lumber for their projects. Our passion is to assist like-minded woodworkers in creating projects that bring their ideas to life.

The Process

After trees are salvaged, they are taken to our mill in Batavia, Illinois, where we specialize in creating lumber and one-of-a-kind natural edge slabs. We then kiln dry our logs to 7% moisture content, ensuring a higher quality product by minimizing movement and eliminating any bugs or insects. This meticulous process allows us to provide our customers with the best possible materials for their projects.

We offer a wide range of wood species, including Ash, Elm, Basswood, Locust, Walnut, Birch, Boxelder, Catalpa, Cherry, Cottonwood, Hackberry, Hickory, Maple (Red & White), Osage Orange, and Sycamore. Each species brings its unique characteristics and uses, ensuring that you'll find the perfect fit for your project.
