Our Vision

Bakas "Horses for Handicapped" empowers individuals with physical and mental disabilities through therapeutic horseback riding and related activities. We believe in the transformative power of horses to improve quality of life and foster a sense of purpose, dignity, and joy.

Our Mission

Our sole purpose is to support the financial needs of the Bakas Equestrian Center in Hillsborough County, Florida. We achieve this by:

• Providing therapeutic horseback riding experiences: We offer recreational riding, lessons, camps, Special Olympics participation, riding events, and challenge shows.
• Offering networking and social opportunities: We foster connections and build supportive communities through social gatherings and group activities.
• Connecting people with disabilities to resources: We work diligently to share information and connect riders with additional support services in the community.

Dedicated to Supportive Services

Through our dedicated work, we:

• Empower individuals: Riders develop core strength, balance, coordination, and physical skills.
• Foster independence: We help them gain confidence, independence, and a sense of achievement through their equine partners.
• Promote well-being: Every ride is accompanied by trained volunteers who offer emotional and physical support.
