Services Offered
At Davis Psychiatry, we offer traditional psychiatric services that focus on providing compassionate and individualized care. We understand that each person's experiences and struggles are unique, and we take the time to thoroughly evaluate and understand our patients' difficulties.
Our evaluation/consultation process involves one to three 45-minute sessions for adults and three to four 45-minute sessions for children. The first session is typically with caregivers only, while subsequent sessions involve the child or adolescent. In some cases, a fourth session with the family may be recommended.
During the evaluation period, we may request additional information from other individuals such as school personnel, therapists, dieticians, primary care physicians, or other family members or providers. With your permission, we will communicate with these individuals as it can be very useful in understanding your symptoms and developing an effective treatment plan.
Treatment Approach
At Davis Psychiatry, we believe in taking a traditional approach to psychiatry, which involves spending a considerable amount of time early in the evaluation phase to learn about you and understand what difficulties you may be experiencing. We understand that forming a diagnosis and developing a treatment plan takes time, and we are committed to providing the necessary time and attention to ensure that we are able to provide you with the most effective care possible.
After the initial appointment, we may recommend further sessions to solidify a diagnosis and develop an impression or formulation. This is essentially a hypothesis for what we think may be contributing to your symptoms. We will work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that may include medication, therapy, or other interventions.
We are proud to have served a wide range of facilities and organizations throughout our career, including the Sacramento County Mental Health Treatment Center, UC Davis MIND Institute, San Mateo Medical Center, Stanford University Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic, Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, and many others. We are dedicated to providing compassionate and effective care to all of our patients.
