The American Martial Arts Academy (AMAA) was established in 1998 with a mission to develop exceptional individuals and promote a culture of excellence in a safe and enjoyable environment. At AMAA, we believe in the power of martial arts to transform individuals into focused, disciplined, happy, and confident individuals who can overcome the challenges of modern-day life. Our core style is Taekwondo, a Korean traditional martial art and an Olympic sport. Taekwondo emphasizes kicking, which helps develop flexibility, agility, core stability, and physical fitness. We incorporate Judo's takedowns and Jiu-jitsu's ground fighting techniques into our curriculum, ensuring our students are versatile in both stand-up and ground fighting.

Our Programs

AMAA offers various programs for all ages, including Tiny Warriors (ages 4 to 6), Taekwon Kids (ages 7 to 12), Young Olympians (ages 13 to 18), Action Adults, and Modern Day Knights. Our Modern Day Knights are the most decorated team in Ventura County, producing countless national medalists and more than a dozen national team members since 2008. We pursue excellence in both traditional and sport martial arts while upholding traditional values and ideas, expressed in our academy tenets: Loyalty, Respect, Self-Control, Responsibility, and Humility. Our goal is to develop strong, confident, and capable black belts with the right moral, ethical, and spiritual foundation.

Our Logo

Our logo is an abstract image of two persons kicking high, one in red and one in blue, resembling a flame - the flame of passion. At AMAA, we are passionate about martial arts and its benefits to everyone. Our passion is grounded on three clear mission statements: pursuit of excellence in the physical, mental, and spiritual domains; diligent preparation and discipline; and competitiveness with compassion and collaboration. We invite you to be a part of this journey.

Our Mission

At AMAA, we are committed to practicing biblical principles in training, teaching, relationships with our students, and organizational goals. We provide quality martial arts instructions and promote a positive lifestyle, teaching students to cultivate and discipline their minds, bodies, and spirits, producing courageous, honorable, successful, and responsible citizens.
