At LEAP Performing Arts Academy, we are passionate about building the dancers of today and empowering the leaders of tomorrow. Our mission is to provide a safe and inviting atmosphere for all students to express themselves through the artistry and techniques of dance and the performing arts. From our humble beginnings to our current success, we have remained committed to dance education excellence.
Our Story
Heather Leeper, our founder, opened the first Little Leapers class in July 2012 at a YMCA in Blacksburg, VA. The idea of Little Leapers was born out of a desire to offer something unique to the area. What started as a single class quickly grew into a demand across the region. Today, we serve over 450 students and produce two full-length productions annually, including the Nutcracker at the Moss Arts Center.
Our Facilities
Our Blacksburg dance studio location is home to over 250 dancers, featuring four dance studios with unique 'open air' design. This allows for parents to enjoy and appreciate class along with our students, making it a truly unique and engaging experience. Our studios are equipped with sprung and marley dance floors, wall-to-wall mirrors, and virtual and in-person class options. We also have a privacy dressing area, handicap accessible restrooms and classrooms, and a front desk area with guest Wi-Fi.

We are proud of our 'open air' studio design, which provides an unparalleled learning environment. Our highly trained instructors integrate literature into each class, making our curriculum truly special. Additionally, we offer spectacular productions every season, award-winning summer camps, and unforgettable birthday parties. Our commitment to community involvement and the 'Be Kind, Blacksburg' initiative sets us apart.
Our Programs
We offer classes for students from 18 months to adults, including our Little Leapers program for young children and the LEAP Performing Arts Academy for advancing students and adults. Our programs are designed to nurture creativity, discipline, and self-expression.
