Our History
DMG Hardwoods began its journey in the jungles of Guyana. Our founder, Martin Feuer, discovered a unique species called Dicorynia Guianensis, also known as Angelique, while surveying timber for a hydroelectric dam. Angelique was widely used in the Netherlands for water works and seemed like a suitable alternative to traditional oak runners that were being devoured by marine borers. This led to the creation of DMG Naval Deck. Soon after, DMG expanded into the emerging market of live edge slabs, finalizing the three pillars of the company.
Today, DMG Hardwoods stocks a wide variety of unique woods, both domestic and imported. We are dedicated to environmentally sound forest utilization and continue to grow our product offerings to meet the demands of our customers. Our facilities are located in the town of York in Southern Maine.
Our Products
We offer a wide variety of exotic and unique decking from South America to Western Africa. All of the decking is durability Class 1 and well known for its strength and durability. Our selection includes Cocobolo, Greenheart, and Timbers Farm and Garden Decking.
Our live edge slabs are sourced from both domestic and exotic hardwoods, including logs we acquire and saw ourselves. We offer a beautiful and unique selection of slabs up to 50 inches wide, kiln dried, and perfect for high-quality tables, bar tops, counter tops, and benches.
Our Wallaba Shingles are a cost-effective, unique, and durable option for siding or roofing. They are naturally proven to be fire resistant and can withstand whatever the elements can throw at them.
We also offer a large collection of reclaimed slabs, many of which are taken from the large man-made lake in Suriname called Brokopondo. The lake was created in the mid-1960s when Suralco, the Suriname Aluminum Company, flooded the area to generate power for the aluminum refinery. As a cost-saving measure, the area that would become the lake bed was not cleared of trees, and thus many acres of timber were flooded.
Additionally, we produce DMG Trap runners, which are made from the same species as our "Naval Deck" decking and timbers. Supported by intensive research by the United States Forest Service and the U.S. Navy, DMG runners resist abrasion and attack by marine borers. Standard and custom sizes are available.
We are also an authorized dealer of a large variety of DeckWise products to help complete the installation of your hardwood decking.
