M.D. Descant Construction is a family-owned business located in Bunkie, Louisiana, with a rich history that spans three generations. Established 50 years ago in a 12'x24' metal building, the company has grown to become a major player in the commercial and industrial construction industry. Our History

M.D. Descant Construction was founded in 1972 on Slaughter House Road in Bunkie, Louisiana. The company started in humble beginnings, with half of the metal building serving as a warehouse for a ragged F-750 bobtail dump truck. At that time, the company's primary focus was residential construction in and around the Bunkie community. However, within two years, the company ventured into commercial and industrial construction. With strong faith and five children, the founder, M.D. Descant, knew there was no turning back. Today, the company has grown into a family business with three generations of Descants.

Our Team

Our team is made up of dedicated professionals who have learned the trade from the best of teachers - our father, M.D. Descant. We pride ourselves in knowing that we have a solid foundation in construction, and we continue to build on this foundation with every project we undertake. Our general superintendents are crucial to the success of our company, and we recognize their dedication to our mission of "Building for the Future."

M. Dwight Descant III is a managing member of the company. He spent his summers during high school and college working for his dad's construction company. His experience as a laborer, operator, and carpenter's helper has been invaluable in his current role.

Trent Descant is another member of the team. He has been involved in various parts of the business, from estimating to project management.

Charles (Chuck) Descant has been in the construction industry for over 30 years. He began his career as a 14-year-old laborer during the summer months and worked his way up to becoming a professional in the industry. He is married and has two sons.

Cindy Craig is the office manager at M.D. Descant Construction. She has been with the company since 1981, starting as a receptionist and moving up to become the CFO/Office Manager/Accountant.

Ross M. Descant is the project manager at M.D. Descant Construction. He has been with the company for several years, overseeing various projects and ensuring that they are completed on time and within budget.

Candice Volker is the secretary at M.D. Descant Construction. She has been with the company since 2006, and her responsibilities include payroll, payroll taxes, 401k retirement plan, employee health & benefit insurance, and accounting.
