Our Story

Welcome to Verterra Winery, a family-owned business dedicated to creating exceptional wines from estate-grown fruit on the spectacular Leelanau Peninsula in northern Michigan. Our journey began in 2006 when we planted our first acre of grapes in our vineyard affectionately known as 'Frost Pocket.' From that point forward, we were hooked and today we have 40+ acres of estate grapes used to make over 20 different wines.

At Verterra Winery, we take pride in our award-winning wines, including our Pinot Grigio, which has won Best of Class from the largest competition in North America. We offer a wide range of wines to suit every palate, from dry whites to rich reds, and even sparkling wines and hard cider. Our wines are crafted with care and attention to detail, using only the finest ingredients and traditional winemaking techniques.

Verterra Winery is also a premier vineyard wedding and event venue, offering panoramic views of Grand Traverse Bay. Our stunning settings, combined with our exceptional wines and personalized service, make us the perfect choice for any special occasion.
