Welcome to S&W Violin Studio! We are a team of passionate violinists dedicated to nurturing the musical potential of students of all ages and abilities. Located conveniently in Honolulu, we offer private violin lessons taught by experienced and dedicated professionals, Nancy Shoop-Wu and Hung Wu, members of the renowned Hawaii Symphony Orchestra.

Our Approach to Learning

At S&W Violin Studio, we believe in personalized learning. We tailor our teaching methods to each student's individual needs, identifying and developing their strengths while addressing any areas for improvement. We focus on all aspects of violin playing, including:

• Note Reading: Mastering the fundamentals of music notation to confidently navigate through melodies and harmonies.
• Rhythm & Technique: Developing a strong sense of rhythm and articulate bowing and fingering techniques.
• Intonation & Sound Development: Cultivating beautiful tone and precise intonation for a captivating musical experience.
• Phrasing & Style: Learning to express emotions and individuality through musical phrasing and stylistic nuances.

Experienced Instructors

Nancy Shoop-Wu: A seasoned violinist with over 20 years of teaching experience, Nancy holds a Master of Music degree from Yale School of Music and is a certified Suzuki Teacher. Her vast knowledge and diverse teaching approach cater to students of all ages and learning styles.

Hung Wu: A highly skilled violinist and accomplished musician, Hung possesses extensive experience in violin repair and bow rehair. His meticulous attention to detail and his deep understanding of instrument care ensure optimal performance for every student.

Beyond the Lessons

Our aim is to foster a love for music and empower our students to become confident violinists. We regularly schedule recitals to provide students with opportunities to showcase their progress and celebrate their achievements. Additionally, we guide them in preparing for auditions, competitions, and other exciting musical endeavors.
