Our Montessori Mansion is a home-based nurturing environment for children that follows Montessori philosophy. Dr. Maria Montessori was Italy's first female medical doctor. Based on her scientific background, experimentation, and unbiased observation, she developed a unique approach to learning. Dr. Montessori suggested that a new-born is gifted with an "absorbent mind" by nature and goes through various sensitive periods of development in the first six years of his life. He absorbs everything in the environment which later on becomes an integral part of his personality. Dr. Montessori designed a prepared environment with carefully formulated materials to stimulate children's interest in spontaneous and effortless learning. According to Dr. Montessori, a prepared environment and indirect guidance are keys to perfect human development. Montessori Method stresses the respect for a child, self-education, freedom of expression, and independence in mastery of skills under careful observation. The prepared environment of Montessori Mansion is a child-centered environment designed according to the development needs of a child. It offers fused options for children that combine Exercises of practical life, Sensorial, Math, Language, Geography, Science, Biology, Art, and other cultural subjects. Music and computer are integrated into the curriculum as well as outdoor play and field trips. The day care environment of Montessori Mansion includes learning toys for recognition of numbers, alphabets, materials for discrimination of shape, color, and dimension, building blocks, dress-up centers, kitchen set, puppet show, etc. Arts and craft and library corner are common in both areas.
