Camille King Family Law is a legal practice specializing in divorce and dissolution of domestic partnership, premarital and cohabitation agreements, and consulting services for clients already in mediation. With a commitment to empowering and effective alternatives to court, we provide our clients with the tools and support they need to navigate difficult transitions and reach equitable solutions.
Divorce / Dissolution of Partnership
As a neutral mediator or as one party's collaborative attorney, our services are designed to help clients participate in constructive dialogue and creative solutions for dissolving their marriage or domestic partnership. Our goal is to stay out of the adversarial court process and work together toward a mutually agreeable solution. Both mediation and collaborative divorce require good faith negotiation, honesty, and the capacity to compromise.
*Mediation*
Mediation is a facilitated discussion between two parties. As the mediator, we act as a guide who provides a structure for negotiation and supports the parties in problem-solving. Through this process, we empower clients to make informed decisions and reach a mutually agreeable resolution.
*Collaborative Divorce*
In a collaborative divorce, each party has their own individual attorney, who is specially trained in this process. The parties and their respective attorneys work together as a team to create an agreement that feels equitable to both parties. The collaborative process is designed to be transparent, with full disclosure of all relevant information, and to help clients reach a resolution that meets the needs of all involved.
Premarital and Cohabitation Agreements
Entering into a marriage or registered domestic partnership means being subject to California's laws regarding property and income. Premarital (Prenuptial) Agreements allow couples to opt in or out of these legal norms. Cohabitation Agreements are designed for couples who plan to remain unmarried, but wish to have a financial plan for how they will manage joint properties and expenses while living together.
Consulting for Clients Already in Mediation
If you are working with another mediator and wish to have a consulting attorney, we offer you an independent consultation on an as-needed basis. Our consulting attorney services include a review of any draft settlement agreement before it is signed and submitted to the court. Our goal is to help clients understand their rights and obligations and make informed decisions about their agreements.
