Empowering Students to Rock Their Dreams!

At Third Hand Bike Co-op, we believe that cycling is not just a mode of transportation, but a way of life. As a volunteer-run, non-profit, community-oriented workshop, we are dedicated to promoting cycling as a safe, enjoyable, and environmentally responsible way to get around. Our mission is to provide community members with the facilities, tools, and skills necessary to make cycling an essential part of their everyday lives.

Our Services

We offer a wide range of services to help you get back on the road or trail. Whether you're looking to fix your bike, obtain a new one, or simply meet fellow cyclists, we've got you covered. Our services include:

  • Sales of used bikes and parts at a low cost
  • Access to a basic stock of new parts
  • Opportunities to volunteer and learn new skills
  • Use of our fully equipped workstations and tools
  • Help from experienced volunteers to work on your bike
  • A safer space welcome to everyone, with a strict anti-oppression policy

Our Facilities

Our facilities are well-equipped to handle complete bicycle maintenance. We have 12 fully equipped workstations, as well as specialized tools and hundreds of bikes for sale in various conditions. Our shop is a safer space, where everyone is welcome and treated with respect.

Our History

The Third Hand Bicycle Co-op was founded in the early 2000s, but went into hibernation a year later. However, the remnants of the co-op inspired another group of people to re-form the co-op in 2005. Since then, we've grown and expanded, moving to a rented storefront in 2007 and eventually purchasing our own location in 2012. Today, we continue to pursue our goal of education and activism, serving the local neighborhood and the wider Columbus community.
