Our studio provides all the necessary Yoga props for a safe and effective practice. We offer classes for beginners to advanced practitioners, from chairs to ropes, as well as Yoga for health challenges, ageless Yoga, and much more. Our classes support students where they need to begin and require no prerequisites. Yoga classes are structured to integrate the whole of Yoga and spend time each class on being active and reflective, and always include time for rest and relaxation. We will show you how to use your breath and how to progress in Yoga without being asked to go beyond your capacity, so you can fulfill your health potential.

Our teaching traditions and methodologies include Iyengar Yoga, Jivamukti Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Hatha Yoga. If you are interested in deepening your knowledge and practice, contact her at center4yoga10@gmail.com.

Center for Yoga hosts Jehangir Palkhivala of Mumbai, India, a remarkable being and special teacher who studied with BKS Iyengar from the age of 7. Jehangir shares his brilliance and remarkable depth of understanding of bringing Yoga into your life.

Meet Ruth Fisk, the Visionary Leader

A visionary leader, founder, and owner of the Center for Yoga, Ruth Fisk began studying Iyengar Yoga in 1980 and has been teaching for 37 years. She remains spirited and passionate in her delivery of this ancient art and science and is dedicated to the teaching of Yoga in a traditional and kind way with abundant humor and self-reflection. Ruth is a Level II Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher authorized to teach BKS Iyengar's method. Her spiritual practice is guided by Jehangir Palkhivala (who grew up with Mr. Iyengar) and she makes yearly visits to India to study.

Twenty-five years ago, Ruth Fisk founded the Center for Yoga Movement and Massage, the first Yoga center in the greater Lansing area. Her teaching and the continual expansion of the Center for Yoga over the years has been instrumental to growing the community of students and teachers and has facilitated numerous teachers to open Yoga studios that are operating today in greater Lansing and Mid-Michigan. Generous by nature, Ruth provides an environment at the Center that is safe and caring with the intention to help students find the right place and right teacher to grow and transform through Yoga. Ruth also mentors teachers in their quest to become knowledgeable in the teaching of Yoga and sharing of Yoga with their students.

Everyone comes to Yoga for their own reasons; Ruth's was a dance injury. The discovery of Iyengar Yoga turned into a life-long journey of self-discovery and a career filled with love and passion for the ancient art of Yoga.
