Meadville Cooperative Preschool

Meadville Cooperative Preschool is a non-profit, independent, and play-based preschool that has been serving the Meadville community since 1961. Our preschool is administered by the parents of the enrolled children, and we take pride in being one of the only accredited preschools in Meadville, with a STAR 4 rating given by Keystone STARS. We are licensed by the PA Department of Human Services and accredited by the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Our School Setting

Our school setting is designed to provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children to learn and grow. We limit our class size to 10-15 children, depending on the room, and each class is guided by a certified lead teacher and an experienced assistant teacher. Our teachers are trained to promote the best development of each child, and they understand that children learn by doing. Therefore, our program provides each child with plenty of time to explore, create, and challenge themselves.

Preschool Program

Our preschool program is designed to help children learn about themselves and their world, giving them a strong basis for their educational career. We offer a play-based curriculum that promotes social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Our program includes a variety of activities, such as art, music, science, and pretend play, that are designed to engage children and promote learning.

Cooperative Spirit

As a cooperative preschool, we believe that parents are an integral part of their child's education. Therefore, we encourage parent involvement in the classroom, on the board, and in the general operation of the school. We believe that this cooperative spirit creates a strong community of learners and fosters a love of learning in children.

Announcements

We are excited to announce summer programming for 2024! Summer Care MCP will offer summer sessions from 9am-3pm, five days per week, beginning June 17 and ending August 9. There will be no school July 4-8, 2024. There is also the option for summer care 3, 4, or 5 days per week.

Meadville Cooperative Preschool families are selling 100% organic, non-GMO vegetable and flower seeds to help you jumpstart spring! All net proceeds will benefit the Meadville Cooperative Preschool.

Meadville Cooperative Preschool is hosting an Open House on March 26th from 5:30pm-6:30pm for prospective students! This is open to families who are thinking of enrolling their child(ren) in the preschool and would like to explore the space and learn more.

We invite you to attend Family Night on Tuesday, January 23rd! The theme for the night is SNOW! There will be light refreshments in the main lobby, and each classroom will feature a different activity.

Families of current preschoolers at MCP are invited to join us for our Fall Open House on Wednesday, October 11th! This Open House is a time to see what your child has been working on, see the classroom through their eyes, and chat with their teachers.

Al's Melons of Conneaut Lake is hosting a family night for Co-op families! Join us from 4pm-6pm on October 4th for all kinds of fall family fun on the farm!

MCP's Orientation picnic will be Wednesday, August 23rd, at Roche Park Pavilion #2 from 6-7pm. MCP will provide the main course and drinks. We ask families to contribute the following, if possible: Families of 3 year-olds: Please bring a dessert Families of 4 & 5 year-olds: Please bring a side dish.
