Widowmaker Trail Rides and Camp Alexander is a premier horseback riding destination located just 10 minutes west of Dallas Fort Worth Airport. Our business offers guided horseback trail rides, photo shoots, and team building activities, catering to individuals and groups of all skill levels. Our experienced guides, David and Jeff, have been operating the business since 2002 and have a deep passion for horses and the great outdoors.

Our Story

David Alexander and Jeff Cook, long-time Southlake residents, founded Widowmaker Trail Rides and Camp Alexander in 2002. Both David and Jeff are founding members of the Southlake Mounted Patrol, where they volunteered their time at high school football games, parades, and Southlake festivals. They have also worked with the Southlake Police to improve safety on the 15 miles of lake trails. Jeff is a licensed guide in Wyoming and guides a wilderness horseback elk hunt each October, while David works as a team building facilitator for western entertainment. Their extensive experience and knowledge of horses and the outdoors ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all riders.

Our Services

At Widowmaker Trail Rides and Camp Alexander, we offer a range of services designed to cater to individuals and groups of all skill levels. Our guided horseback trail rides are a popular choice, taking riders through the beautiful trails of Lake Grapevine. We also offer photo shoots at Camp Alexander, providing a unique and memorable experience. Additionally, our team building activities are designed to promote communication, trust, and teamwork among groups.

What to Expect

When you ride with us, you can expect a personalized and unforgettable experience. Our gentle and friendly horses are matched to complement your abilities, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable ride. We require a $100 deposit, which is refundable if it's raining or if you contact us 48 hours prior to the ride. Our rides are by appointment only, so please call or text us to check availability and make reservations.
