About Us

Behrend Counseling LLC is founded on the belief that change and choice are within your reach, no matter what life throws your way. Our founder, Silvia Behrend, D. Min, M. Div, Certified Pattern Analyst, has spent over thirty years working in the field of human consciousness, helping individuals navigate life's transitions and overcome personal challenges. As an educator, consultant, speaker, minister, and pattern analyst, she has worked with couples, families, and individuals from all walks of life, guiding them through life's ups and downs.

Dr. Behrend's extensive experience spans from developing and implementing curricula for all ages to serving as a consultant to churches and congregations. She is currently the Director of International Studies at the Assisi Institute: The International Center for the Study of Archetypal Patterns, where she has also served on the Board of the Assisi Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to funding training and education globally.

Dr. Behrend has shared her expertise through lectures locally and internationally, offering webinars for students in Spain, Australia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Russia. She has taught at the doctoral, graduate, and undergraduate levels, bringing her knowledge on human relationships, creativity, and self-awareness to her students. Dr. Behrend has also led physicians and hospital staff in retreats aimed at fostering greater self-awareness and interaction with patients and the world.

She has been a national speaker on issues related to gender, sexuality, and spirituality, advocating for GLBTQ youth and adults. Dr. Behrend has received several awards for excellence in teaching and Biblical Scholarship and completed her thesis for the Assisi Institute's Archetypal Pattern Analyst training on The Archetypal Field of Leadership.

Informed by Dr. Behrend's ongoing education and training, her extensive experience, and her ability to listen closely to your stories, we form an alliance to shift what has been blocked. As a minister, Dr. Behrend is drawn to the soul's desire for wholeness and health, purpose and meaning. As a Certified Pattern Analyst, she looks at how each life unfolds according to the natural patterns of human behavior and how these patterns are expressed in each individual's life. As an educator, she shares the knowledge available in the wisdom traditions for personal growth. As a Master Dream Pattern Analyst, she is trained to listen to the nuanced wisdom of your dreams.
