We offer a range of psychological services tailored to meet the needs of adults, couples, and public safety and emergency services personnel. Here are some of the services we provide:
- Psychotherapy for Adults: We offer individual therapy sessions for adults struggling with a variety of mental health concerns, including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, attention-deficit disorder, stress, and adjustment to life changes.
- Exclusively for Public Safety and Emergency Services Personnel: We specialize in providing psychological services to police, firefighters, EMTs, corrections officers, and dispatchers. Our services are designed to meet the unique needs of these individuals and to help them cope with the stressors of their high-pressure jobs.
- Critical Incident Trauma: Our team is trained in providing Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) services for multiple law enforcement and fire agencies in Oregon and Washington. We offer a range of interventions, including psychological first aid, crisis management briefings, and critical incident stress debriefings.
- Mood Disorders/Depression: We offer therapy sessions for individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders. We use evidence-based approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy to help clients manage their symptoms and make meaningful changes in their lives.
- Assertive Communication: Our team provides training and coaching on assertive communication skills, helping clients to communicate their needs and boundaries effectively in personal and professional settings.
- Stress Management: We offer stress management services for individuals and organizations, teaching clients how to manage stress and prevent it from becoming overwhelming.
- Peer Support Development, Consultation, and Training: We offer consultation and training services to help organizations set up peer support teams and foster a supportive work environment.
Dr. Garen Weitman is a licensed psychologist and the founder of Weitman Psychological Services, P.C. She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from Pacific University in Oregon and has worked with adults in a variety of settings since 2001. Dr. Weitman has a special interest in treating public safety and emergency services personnel and medical professionals, and she worked in law enforcement prior to becoming a psychologist. She is contracted with numerous law enforcement and fire agencies in Oregon and Washington and has provided training and consultation for numerous public safety agencies throughout the Portland Metropolitan area since 2007.
Dr. Weitman takes a collaborative and compassionate approach to therapy, empowering clients to find solutions to their personal challenges. She believes that seeking therapy is a sign of strength and that professional help can make a significant difference in people's lives. Dr. Weitman uses evidence-based approaches such as CBT and solution-focused therapy to help clients make meaningful changes and alleviate their mental health symptoms.
