Helping families navigate childhood and beyond.

Parenting is a challenging journey, and sometimes we need help navigating life's ups and downs. At True North Counseling Services, we are dedicated to helping you and your child find your "True North" or your authentic self in a confusing world. Our mission is to provide a safe, creative, and empathetic setting where children and teens can open up and learn the coping skills and resilience necessary to move forward and chart their course.

Our Services

We offer individual, family, and group therapy settings for children and teens of all ages. Our experienced therapists specialize in various areas, including play therapy, sand tray therapy, art therapy, ADHD, LGBTQAI+, anxiety, self-harm behaviors, trauma, depression, and more. We understand that when one person in the family struggles, everyone struggles, and we are here to walk the path together.

*Individual Therapy:* Our individual therapy sessions are tailored to meet the unique needs of each child or teen. We believe in a collaborative approach, working with parents, caregivers, and the child to create a treatment plan that addresses the child's strengths and challenges.

*Family Therapy:* We understand the importance of family relationships in a child's life. Our family therapy sessions focus on improving communication, building healthy boundaries, and strengthening family connections. We believe that when families work together, children can thrive.

*Group Therapy:* Our therapy groups for elementary-age children provide a safe and supportive environment where children can learn social skills, build self-esteem, and connect with others who may be going through similar experiences.

Our Team

Our team of licensed therapists and mental health counseling interns is dedicated to helping children and teens navigate childhood and beyond. We have years of experience and training in various areas of children's and teens' mental health, and we are committed to providing compassionate and evidence-based care.

Preschoolers

Preschoolers and toddlers do not yet have the language to talk about their feelings and are not all born with the coping skills they need. When they engage in creating art, playing, imagining and pretending, they are learning coping skills and how to communicate openly about their feelings. Ages 3 and up benefit from play therapy in a playroom setting. Little children communicate their needs through their behaviors. Learning to read those behaviors and engage in play to help them communicate their needs more clearly as well as "play out" their worries and concerns is beneficial to preschoolers and toddlers.

Children

Many young children struggle to "talk it out" when they are dealing with anxiety, life changes, challenges, family and school issues. But when they engage in creating art, playing, imagining and pretending, they are learning coping skills and how to communicate openly about their feelings. Even young children can be taught resiliency and discover their strengths with a trained children's counselor.

At True North Counseling Services, we are committed to helping children and teens find their "True North" and navigate childhood and beyond. Contact us today to learn more about our services and to schedule an appointment.
