Our school has a rich history of providing affordable and traditional Isshinryu karate classes to individuals and families. Our Services
At the Midwest School of Isshinryu Karate, we offer a range of classes and services to cater to different age groups and skill levels. Our classes are taught by experienced instructors who are certified in traditional Isshinryu karate. Our classes are designed to provide a well-rounded training experience that includes techniques in bunkai, kumite, and self-defense.
Class Schedules
We offer a variety of class schedules to accommodate different lifestyles. Our classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays, with youth classes from 7:00-7:45 PM and adult classes from 8:00-9:00 PM.
Uniforms and Gear
We believe that the uniform is an important part of the martial arts experience. Our uniforms start at $35, and we offer discounted prices to our students who pre-pay for multiple months. We also sell sparring gear at discounted prices to our students.
Payment and Fees
Our payment options include individual and family rates. Our individual rate is $30 per month, and our family rate is $55 for the first two family members, with an additional $25 per month for each additional family member.
Instructors
Our instructors are experienced and certified in traditional Isshinryu karate. Our instructors have undergone rigorous training and have a deep understanding of the art. Our lead instructor, Master A. Keith Smith, has been in the martial arts industry for over 45 years and has achieved the rank of 9th Dan in Isshin-Ryu Karate.

Our school was founded in 1974 by Master A. Keith Smith, who was introduced to Isshinryu karate in 1972 under the guidance of Sensei Patrick Buckley. Over the years, our school has grown and expanded, with Master Smith continuing to train and learn from renowned instructors around the world.
