At the Wichita Collaborative Psychology Internship Program (WCPIP), we are committed to providing a comprehensive and stimulating learning experience for our interns. As an APA-accredited internship program, we pride ourselves on offering a wide range of training experiences that cater to the unique needs and interests of each intern. Our program is made up of three cooperating agencies: Prairie View, Inc., University of Kansas School of Medicine, and Wichita State University Counseling and Psychological Services. Each agency offers something unique, providing our interns with a rich variety of experiences.

Our Approach to Training

Our training approach is built on the principle of providing a broad and varied learning experience. Interns spend four days a week at their primary agency and one day at a secondary agency, allowing them to gain exposure to different settings, populations, and treatment approaches. This unique combination of experiences enables our interns to develop a well-rounded skill set, preparing them for a successful career in psychology.

Our History

WCPIP has a rich history of training future psychologists, dating back to 1953 when we became one of the first consortia to receive accreditation from the American Psychological Association. Our first graduating class included the renowned Albert Bandura, who is still recognized today for his groundbreaking work in the field. To date, over 490 psychologists have completed their internships with WCPIP.

Why You'll Love Wichita

In addition to our excellent training program, Wichita has a lot to offer. With a growing population of nearly 400,000, a vibrant restaurant and art scene, and fantastic outdoor and recreation options, Wichita is an exciting and welcoming place to live and work.
