At Thacher Winery and Vineyard, we believe that the art of winemaking is not just about crafting great wine, but also about sharing the experience of the beautiful vineyards and surrounding countryside. Our winery is situated in the heart of Paso Robles, an area known for its rich history and natural beauty. We strive to make elegant wines with more nuances than sheer power, using minimal intervention and native ferments that are created in the vineyard.
Our Philosophy
For decades, quarter horses, cattle, and cowboys roamed the grassy hills of the historic Kentucky Ranch. Today, we are proud to continue the tradition of crafting wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Paso Robles region. We believe that the key to making truly great wine is to emphasize local subtleties and true local terroir, rather than trying to impose a standardized product on the market. Our wines are the result of careful blending and aging to ensure that each bottle is a reflection of the land and the people who tend to the vineyards.
Our Winemaking Style
We believe that the beauty of a wine lies in its subtlety and elegance, rather than its power and intensity. We achieve this by using minimal intervention and native ferments that are created in the vineyard. Our wines are made from a diverse range of varietals from exceptional vineyards in Paso Robles, Santa Barbara, and Monterey Counties. We strive to balance the fruit, acid, and tannins naturally, rather than trying to manipulate them through processing techniques.
