Empowering young minds through discovery, exploration, and learning

Discover the Quality Philosophy of GBN

At the Gertrude B. Nielsen Child Care and Learning Center, we are dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood education that is tailored to the needs of each child. We believe that children are capable of great things, and we strive to create an environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and growth.

Our philosophy is centered on the idea that children learn best through play and hands-on experiences. We offer a variety of programs and activities that are designed to engage children in the learning process and help them develop a love of learning that will last a lifetime.

History of GBN

The Gertrude B. Nielsen Child Care and Learning Center was founded 35 years ago by Gertrude B. Nielsen, a woman who was admired by all for her generosity, warmth, and compassion. Today, we continue to honor Gertrude's legacy by providing excellent early childhood education to children aged 6 months to 6 years.

Parent Partnership

At GBN, we believe that parents are an essential part of the learning process. We work closely with parents to understand their child's unique needs and provide a supportive and nurturing environment that meets those needs. We are committed to open and ongoing communication with parents and value their input and feedback.

Our Staff

Our staff is the heart and soul of our center. We are proud to have a team of highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated teachers and caregivers who are committed to providing the best possible care and education to our students. Our staff undergoes regular training and professional development to ensure that they are up-to-date on the latest research and best practices in early childhood education.

Our Facilities

Our facilities are carefully designed to enrich the mind, body, and spirit of young children. We offer a variety of learning spaces that are tailored to the needs of each age group, as well as common areas where children can connect with their families and celebrate together. Our facilities include an aviary and aquarium, plants, and colors and textures that are inviting and stimulate learning.

Age Level Programs

We offer a variety of programs for children at different age levels, including:

  • Infant Program: Our infant program is designed to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged 6 months to 18 months.
  • Toddler Program: Our toddler program is designed to promote independence and social skills in children aged 18 months to 3 years.
  • Preschool Program: Our preschool program is designed to prepare children for kindergarten by building social skills, problem-solving abilities, and a love of learning.
  • Kindergarten Program: Our kindergarten program provides a structured, engaging, and supportive learning environment that meets the needs of each child.
  • Summer Camp: Our summer camp program offers a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, sports, and field trips, for children aged 3-6 years.

Program Transitions

As your child gains knowledge and experience, your child will make transitions throughout the school. We work closely with parents to ensure that these transitions are smooth and supportive. We consider several factors in moving a child from one age level to another, including the child's developmental needs, social and emotional readiness, and academic progress.

Health and Nutrition

We believe that healthy eating habits and physical activity are essential to a child's overall well-being. We provide nutritious meals and snacks that are prepared on-site, and we offer opportunities for physical activity throughout the day.

Enrichment Programs

In addition to our core programs, we offer a variety of enrichment programs, including music, creative movement, and foreign language classes. These programs are designed to provide children with additional opportunities to learn and grow.

Volunteer

We welcome volunteers at our center and believe that their involvement enriches the educational experience for our students. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available, including reading to children, assisting with special projects, and helping with events and fundraisers.
