Feeding it Forward, One Meal at a Time
Our Mission
At Adams County Food Bank, we're dedicated to alleviating hunger and its companion problems in Adams County. Our mission is to provide nutritious food distributions to families, seniors, and children in need, while also offering job readiness programs to help individuals get back on their feet.
Our Story
We're the largest organization in Adams County working to alleviate hunger and its companion problems: chronic undernutrition, heart disease, and obesity. By partnering with community organizations and distributing food directly into the hands of those in need, we're able to make thousands of nutritious food distributions each week and every month. Our food distribution responds to critical need by providing all people with a generous weekly supply of a variety of foods.
Our Services
We offer a wide range of services to help combat food insecurity in Adams County. Our food pantry is open every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., providing families and individuals with bread, produce, and staple foods like rice, pasta, cereal, canned vegetables, fruit, and tuna to support a healthy diet. We also provide families with fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and other perishable, healthy groceries every week, as well as a once-a-month distribution of staple foods. Additionally, we offer job readiness programs to help individuals establish a track record of on-the-job skills and responsibilities, and provide application assistance for SNAP and Medicare.
Our Impact
Our impact is felt throughout Adams County, with thousands of nutritious food distributions made each week and every month. In 2020, we served over 35,471 households, with 9,070 visits by people seeking weekly sustenance. Our data shows that family weekly visits provide food for 28,950 children, and 24,100 seniors. We're proud to be making a difference in the lives of those in need in our community.
