At Reins of Life, Inc., we are dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities through equine-assisted therapy. As a PATH Intl. accredited center, we have been strengthening communities through inclusion, education, and greater independence since 1978. Our mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment where individuals with disabilities can experience the therapeutic benefits of horseback riding.
Our History and Facilities
Reins of Life, Inc. was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1978, and since then, we have grown to serve over 450 people a month between our two centers in South Bend and Michigan City, Indiana. Our facilities are designed to provide a safe and accessible environment for our participants, with experienced staff and trained horses to ensure a positive experience for all.
Our Services
We offer a variety of equine-assisted activities and therapies, including therapeutic horseback riding, veterans' programs, interactive vaulting, K-12 school programs and virtual field trips, nuzzles and snuggles, equine-facilitated psychotherapy, therapeutic carriage driving, and equine encounters. Our programs are designed to promote the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of all involved, and to educate the community regarding the benefits of riding as therapy.
Our Team
Our team of experienced staff and volunteers are dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for our participants. Our equine partners are trained and certified to provide therapeutic riding lessons, and our staff are trained in adaptive riding techniques to ensure a positive experience for all.
