Volcan Mountain Winery

Volcan Mountain Winery is a hand-crafted, responsibly produced wine producer nestled at the base of the stunning Volcan Mountain. Established in 2015, our winery, tasting room, vineyard, and orchard are located just a short 2-mile scenic drive from the historic town center of Julian, which has its roots in the 1870's gold rush. Here, you can escape the hectic rush of city life and discover the charms of Julian while exploring the beautiful surroundings.

Our knowledgeable and friendly staff, including Melanie "Mel" Shaffer, Catherine "Cat" Strada, Jacqueline "Jac" Smith, Emelia "Emy" Gregor, Maria Rainbow, and Ryan Hart, are always available to answer any questions you have about our wines, Julian, or the surrounding area. We are proud to have such a dedicated and passionate team that shares our love for wine, nature, and community.

Our Vineyard and Orchard

Our vineyard is planted with Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir, while our orchard boasts over 20 varieties of apples. These apples are used to produce our delightfully delicious apple wine and apple port. This year's harvest continues to feature our mainstay favorites, Dolcezza Dulce and Pommier. As Carl Sagan once said, "If you want to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe." We couldn't agree more, and we strive to bring you the essence of the universe in every bottle of our apple wines.

Wine Tasting and Picnics

Our tasting room is open from 11 am to 5 pm on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. We offer four tastes for $15, with glass prices for white and red wines starting at $12 and $14, respectively. To make your experience even more enjoyable, we encourage you to bring a picnic snack to pair with your wine purchase. On Special Event days, we have catered food for sale. Our spacious outdoor areas provide the perfect setting to enjoy a picturesque valley view with Volcan Mountain, surrounding orchards, and vineyards in the background. Keep your ears open for the gentle sounds of wild turkeys, owls, and local deer nibbling on sweet apples and grasses.
