From concept to creation, we help turn your ideas into reality
The CADMaker is a home-based sole-proprietor business established by Byron Funnell, a mechanical engineer graduate of Purdue University. Located north of Fort Wayne, Indiana, The CADMaker has been serving the surrounding area for over 25 years, providing comprehensive CAD design, drawing, modeling, and engineering solutions to small and mid-sized businesses.
The business began its journey as a training and customization hub focused on Autodesk's AutoCAD software. However, customer needs rapidly evolved, prompting The CADMaker to expand its offerings to encompass a broader spectrum of design and documentation services. As CAD software technology advanced, particularly with the emergence of Autodesk's Mechanical Desktop, The CADMaker shifted its focus towards 3D modeling. This transition allowed the business to offer parametric design capabilities, enabling clientes to modify their products efficiently. This streamlined design process resulted in shorter design cycles, improved design understanding, and ultimately, quicker times to profit for clients while minimizing overhead and pre-release revision cycles. With the ongoing evolution of CAD software, The CADMaker seamlessly transitioned to using Autodesk Inventor, the mechanical design flagship, to continue delivering cutting-edge solutions to its clientele.
Our Abilities
The CADMaker's expertise spans across diverse industries, including private and government defense sectors, and we have the ability to assist with a wide range of tasks, such as:
- Transforming sketches and ideas into detailed CAD models and drawings.
- Performing reverse engineering to create models and prints from existing parts.
- Providing assistance in mechanical design, leveraging our in-depth knowledge and experience.
- Creating CAD models from older, archived drawings.
- Generating high-quality renderings for marketing and promotional purposes.
- Developing comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOMs).
- Providing technical writing services, including creating installation instructions or operation manuals.
- Generating specifications for drawings, adhering to strict source control standards.
- Designing sheet metal parts, including creating flat patterns for NC-based machines.
- Facilitating engineering changes and providing clear exploded view drawings, as well as weldment drawings.
We also specialize in generating accurate electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, hydraulic diagrams, and even patent drawings. Our familiarity with ASME Y14 specifications, including Y14.5 GD&T, allows us to tailor deliverables to specific customer requirements, ensuring precision and adherence to industry standards. We can also incorporate various types of title blocks according to client specifications.
What's New
The CADMaker constantly evolves to embrace the latest advancements in technology. We currently operate using Autodesk Inventor 2017 and anticipate upgrading to Inventor 2018 in the near future. Notably, a significant portion of our recent work involves creating high-quality renderings for various applications, such as sales materials and web marketing. Still, we continue our tradition of designing machined parts and developing sheet metal layouts for fabrication.
