American Martial Arts Institute

The American Martial Arts Institute is a traditional martial arts school under the direction of its founder, Grandmaster Clifford Crandall, Jr., a 10th Degree Black Belt. Our school offers three distinct styles: American Eagle Style, Takenouchi-Hangan-Ryu-Matsuno-Crandall Iaido/Batto-do, and American Eagle Cane Style. Each style is fully documented in its own textbook, with supplementary books and DVDs available to assist instructors and students in maintaining the high standard of quality and consistency.

Our classes include empty hand martial arts for ages 3-5, 6-12, teenagers, and adults, focusing on stretching, punches, kicks, basic forms, katas, self-defense, sparring, and bagwork. For ages 18 and older, we offer Iaido, a 300-year-old samurai sword style, and American Eagle Cane Style, which uses a walking cane for blocks, strikes, katas, self-defense, and more. All classes are taught by our staff of certified, adult black belt instructors in a clean and educational environment.

Our 6,400 square foot training hall includes three large training rooms, viewing areas, changing rooms, and professional equipment. We are accepting new students and offer flexible scheduling options. Whether you're looking for physical fitness, stress relief, or self-defense training, our school has something for everyone.

Styles and Classes

Empty-Hand: Improve balance and flexibility. Reduce stress. Our traditional empty hand martial arts classes are designed for ages 3-5, 6-12, teenagers, and adults, covering stretching, punches, kicks, basic forms, katas, self-defense, sparring, and bagwork.

Samurai Sword: Our Iaido style, over 300 years old, is currently in its seventh generation. Takenouchi-Hangan-Ryu-Matsuno-Crandall Iaido and Batto-do uses a samurai sword to develop piece of mind through physical action (Bushido), suitable for ages 18 and older.

Traditional Cane: American Eagle Cane Style uses a walking cane for blocks, strikes, katas, self-defense, and more, designed for ages 18 and older.
