Ride with Confidence, Learn with Fun

Bryn Mawr Horseback Riding Camp is a premier all-girls sleepaway camp located in the picturesque countryside of Northeastern Pennsylvania. The camp is just a short distance from major cities such as New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C., making it easily accessible for campers from all over the country. We offer 2, 4, and 6-week summer camp sessions for girls in grades 6th-10th, with 4 sessions available for campers to choose from.

At Bryn Mawr Horseback Riding Camp, we are dedicated to providing high-quality horse riding instruction while still allowing campers to participate in traditional summer camp activities. We believe that camp should be a well-rounded experience, and that's why our campers will also enjoy swimming, adventure, and arts and crafts in addition to their horseback riding lessons.

Horseback Riding Lessons and Equestrian Activities

Each of our campers will attend two periods of horseback riding lessons per day, as well as one session of on-the-ground horsemanship and one period of barn management. This adds up to four hours of horse riding and care instruction each day. Our campers are paired with horses based on ability and personality, allowing them to interact with a variety of equine personalities while building confidence and versatility as a rider.

Our horseback riding lessons cover a range of disciplines, including hunt seat equitation, hunter/jumper riding, and dressage. Beginner riders will focus on basic position, safety skills, and the fundamentals of hunt seat riding, while more advanced riders will improve their equitation skills on the flat and over jumps. We also offer specialized lessons for riders who are interested in a particular discipline.

In addition to our horseback riding lessons, we also provide instruction in horsemanship and barn management. Our horsemanship lessons cover showmanship and horse training, while our barn management lessons teach campers about equine nutrition and feeding, equine first aid, and how to recognize signs of common maladies. Throughout the session, campers will also participate in special activities such as horse shows, gymkhanas, demonstrations, and a 3-day event. Each session will culminate in an exhibition ride for parents on the last day of camp.

Equestrian Facilities

Our equestrian facilities are located at Bryn Mawr Farms, a 50-acre full-service riding facility. The property includes 30 stalls, three wash stalls with hot and cold water, a large tack room, and several paddocks for turnout. We also have an on-site nurse and examination room to ensure the health and well-being of our horses.

Our facilities include three outdoor arenas and a spacious indoor arena. The outdoor arenas are larger than 100x150, providing plenty of room for dressage tests, hunter/jumper show classes, and group lessons. The indoor arena is over 10,000 square feet in size, allowing it to hold a full course of jumps. It is the perfect spot for working on jumping gymnastics or equitation on days when the weather is less than ideal.

In addition to our arenas, we also have several fields equipped with cross-country jumps for riders who are interested in eventing. Our 12 stall barn on Bryn Mawr's main camps also includes 3 outdoor riding arenas and acres of winding trails.

Horses at Bryn Mawr Riding Camp

At Bryn Mawr Riding Camp, we have developed a relationship with the University of Findlay and Centenary University, two of the most well-known equestrian schools in the United States. Horses that compete during the year as part of Findlay's IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association) and IDA (Intercollegiate Dressage Association) programs spend their summers at Bryn Mawr Farms. These horses have extensive backgrounds in hunters, jumpers, dressage, and/or eventing. They include Thoroughbreds, Warmbloods, Quarter Horses, Paints, and Welsh pony crosses. The Riding Director at Bryn Mawr Riding Camp and the coaches of Findlay and Centenary's equestrian programs work together to select the very best horses to come to Bryn Mawr.
