Healthy Cities Tutoring believes in the potential of young minds to reach their full potential. Founded in 2014, we connect dedicated volunteers with children in Redwood City and San Carlos, nurturing their love for learning and cultivating their unique talents.

Our Mission

Our mission is to foster positive learning environments where children can thrive. Through one-on-one tutoring and mentorship, we aim to:

• Boost academic performance: Provide individualized support to children facing challenges in core subjects like reading, writing, and math.
• Expand their horizons: Encourage exploration of their interests and passions through creative projects and enrichment activities.
• Empower them to become confident learners: Provide positive reinforcement and guidance to cultivate a love for learning that transcends academic achievements.

Our Services

Healthy Cities Tutoring offers a range of services to cater to diverse learning needs and foster holistic development:

1. One-on-One Tutoring

• Personalized lessons designed to address specific learning gaps and accelerate progress.
• Weekly or biweekly sessions tailored to each student's needs and learning pace.

2. Tutor Training & Support

• Specialized training for new tutors to equip them with effective teaching and communication skills.
• Ongoing mentoring and peer support groups to foster personal growth and confidence in tutoring.

3. Enrichment Activities

• Collaboration with community partners to offer unique learning experiences.

4. Family Involvement

• Regular communication and feedback to parents/guardians on student progress and areas of improvement.
• Opportunities for parents to participate in volunteer activities and events.

5. Volunteer Recognition & Scholarships

• Annual Volunteer Recognition Reception to celebrate the invaluable contributions of our dedicated tutors.
• Scholarships awarded to graduating high school tutors in recognition of their exceptional service.
