Help us help them on the road to a life free from violence
Our History and Mission
Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc. (ACT) has been dedicated to serving victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking for over 44 years in Lee, Hendry, and Glades Counties. As a private, not-for-profit agency, our mission is to provide comprehensive services to all persons without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, mental or physical disability, sexual orientation, citizenship, marital status, gender identity (or expression), language spoken, immigration status, and any other protected class.
Our Services
At ACT, we offer a wide range of services to support victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Our 24-hour helpline is available to provide crisis counseling and support 365 days a year. We also operate three safe shelters, providing a safe and secure environment for survivors and their children. In addition to our residential programs, we offer non-residential services, including counseling, advocacy, and legal assistance.
Community-Based Services
Our community-based services focus on providing support and empowerment to survivors through our Prevention Awareness and Outreach Programs, which include education, training, and support groups. Our Economic Empowerment Program provides financial and health literacy education, as well as job skills evaluation and training. We also offer GED assistance and ESOL classes to help survivors regain control over their lives.
Advocacy and Support
Our advocacy department provides support and guidance through the judicial system, and our Rape Crisis Center offers forensic examinations and medical attention to survivors of sexual assault. We also offer counseling, therapy, and support groups for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Giving and Fundraising
ACT relies heavily on the generosity of the community to continue our mission. We have several ways for individuals to give, including donating to our giving fund, participating in fundraising events, or volunteering with our organization. Every contribution makes a difference in the lives of survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Get Involved
There are many ways to get involved with ACT, including volunteering, donating, or participating in fundraising events. By working together, we can create a community that is free from violence and supports those affected by it.
