Coastal Counseling, located in Manteo, N.C. on Roanoke Island, is a community-based practice that believes in the ripple effect. Our team at Coastal Counseling is dedicated to providing the best possible care to our clients. Christopher Roberts, LCAS, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. He provides both mental health counseling and substance abuse treatment. Chris has over 15 years of experience in the field and believes that addiction is a disease that can be treated with appropriate support and care. He specializes in working with adolescents, adults, and families and provides individual and family sessions at Coastal Counseling in Manteo.

Kelly Roberts, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who brings over two decades of experience to the practice. She provides mental health counseling to children, teenagers, and adults. Kelly completed graduate school at The University at Buffalo, earning her MSW degree. She enjoys being a mom and raising her two boys with her husband.

Counseling Services

At Coastal Counseling, we provide a range of counseling services to meet the needs of our clients. Our services include mental health counseling, substance abuse treatment, and DWI services.

Mental health counseling is an essential part of our practice. Chris provides mental health counseling for teens and adults, treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, behavioral issues, stress management, parenting, codependence, marriage counseling, autism spectrum, men's issues, and life transition, including divorce, loss, grief, and chronic medical concerns. Kelly provides mental health counseling to children, teenagers, and adults.

Substance abuse treatment is a critical component of our practice. As a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist, Chris offers substance abuse treatment to adolescents, adults, and families. He believes addiction is a disease and can be treated with appropriate support and care. An important part of his work involves assisting children and teens from homes where substance abuse has been an issue. Chris provides support, understanding, and offers coping skills to his clients.

DWI Services

Being arrested for a Driving While Impaired (DWI) charge can be an expensive, lengthy, and confusing time for many people. Christopher Roberts, LCSW, LCAS, can help you through the process of your DWI. He has professional relationships with local attorneys, judges, probation, and treatment facilities. He understands the legal process and will assist you along the way.

Out of State DWI Services

Coastal Counseling has assisted hundreds of people across the United States and Canada clear their North Carolina DWI. You will not have to return to North Carolina. We work closely with local attorneys and the North Carolina court system. Please get in touch, and we will be happy to assist you.

Insurance

Our office accepts self-pay and we participate with many insurance companies for individual counseling services. We are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Med Cost, and NC Medicaid's Healthy Blue plan. We also participate with NC State Employee's BCBS, NC State Teachers BCBS, and Marketplace BCBS plans. We will submit these claims for you and can collect your co-pay (if applicable) at the time of service. If you have other insurance, you are welcome to self-pay at the time of your session. We will provide a 'super bill' for you to submit to your insurance company if you want to seek reimbursement. Please know that counseling is a tax-deductible medical expense. If you have a question about insurance participation, please give us a call. We also provide EAP services for Vidant and Dare County Employees.
