Sewing Original Stitches (SOS) is a passionate sewing studio based in Industry, PA, dedicated to fostering a vibrant sewing community in Beaver County. At the helm of this creative venture is Owner and Certified Sewing Instructor, Kimberly J. Nixon, who boasts close to five decades of sewing experience. Kimberly, a lifelong resident of Beaver County, has transformed her love for sewing into a thriving business that caters to sewing enthusiasts of all skill levels. Her daughter, Nicole Nixon Gallagher, supports the business as Social Media Director and Upcycling class instructor, adding a modern touch to the timeless craft.

SOS is a unique, classically modern workshop, equipped with state-of-the-art embroidery, sewing, serger, and electronic cutting machines, as well as cutting tables and pressing stations. We have thoughtfully designed our hours to accommodate working professionals, staying open evenings and weekends only, making us the go-to sewing destination for people with busy schedules.

Our mission is to build a robust sewing community in Beaver County that revolves around social events and, above all, fun. We strive to offer an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of their skill level or familiarity with sewing. We are proud of our role as the shop for the working person, offering flexible hours and diverse services that cater to various needs and interests.

Services Offered

New to sewing? We warmly invite you to participate in our Sip N Sew events, an enjoyable and stress-free way to create your first project surrounded by friends and their favorite snacks and beverages.

If you are new to sewing or looking to enhance your skills, join our beginner-friendly classes designed to help you complete projects in the allotted time. Our curriculum caters to various interests, ensuring that there is always something new and exciting to learn.

Love taking classes? Join our fun, interactive classes that encourage shared experiences and the exploration of your creative side. Open Sewing classes allow you to bring your project and enjoy the support of our knowledgeable instructors and fellow sewing enthusiasts. If you have a machine that you are unsure how to use, feel free to bring it in and let us help you reacquaint yourself with it.

Don't have a machine? Use one of ours! This is perfect for those who are hesitant to try sewing, cannot afford high-cost large embroidery or vinyl cutting machines, or simply wish to experience a new machine.

During our upcycle or design classes, you can learn fundamental sewing principles and explore the creative freedom of breaking some rules. If you are confident in your pattern adjustment skills, join Kim for her Palmer/Pletsch certified sewing instructor classes.

Perhaps you have always wanted to make a quilt but didn't know where to begin. Our comprehensive quilting services can guide you through the entire process, from fabric and pattern selection, piecing classes, and long-arm rentals, allowing you to complete your quilt at one convenient location.

Renting space at SOS is an affordable way to complete projects without the distractions of home life. We value group sewing experiences and offer space for groups to sew, craft, or quilt together, fostering a sense of community for all involved.

If sewing isn't for you, we still have options. We custom embroider shirts or hats and offer basic alterations, ensuring that your needs are met, whether or not you enjoy sewing.

At Sewing Original Stitches, our goal is to promote the art of sewing in Beaver County, providing quality services, expert guidance, and a welcoming atmosphere for all. Our hours are Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 1 PM - 9 PM, Saturday from 10 AM to 4:00 PM, and Sunday from 12 PM to 4:00 PM. We also accommodate appointments outside of our regular hours by request.
