At Ventura Surf Lessons, we're thrilled to have you join us on your surfing adventure. Based in the beautiful coastal city of Ventura, California, we offer a variety of services tailored to enhance your experience in the ocean.

Our company, owned and operated by Erik Flores, has over 27 years of experience in the ocean and over 17 years of surf and paddleboard instructor experience. Erik is not only an expert in surfing but also a Set Medic, Lifeguard, and does Open Water Rescue for the Motion Picture Industry. He holds extensive medical and rescue training/certifications, including being a Nationally Registered and California certified EMT, a certified lifeguard, and a certified Professional Rescuer. Erik is a Fire Academy graduate at the top of his class, bilingual in both English and Spanish, and has taught hundreds of people ranging in ages from 4 to 80 years of age. He also has three college degrees, with one in Social and Behavioral Sciences with an emphasis in Psychology, and over 15 years of experience with those who have special needs.

We're passionate about sharing our love for the ocean and the joy of surfing with you. Our team of very experienced and knowledgeable instructors have been carefully selected to meet the high standards we've set in our efforts of continuing to be the best surf lesson business in Ventura County. We understand the importance of safety, and all of our instructors have received first aid training, rescue and/or medical certifications to some extent. Most other surf lesson companies don't even require that their instructors have any medical/rescue training or certifications, let alone first aid kits on hand. This can be very risky, especially when doing the lessons at non-lifeguarded beaches, which is the case for where our surf lessons, along with the vast majority of lessons in Ventura, are conducted at Mondos Beach.

Surfing can be a relatively safe sport when the proper precautions and education have been implemented, and we very much value your safety to ensure you have the best possible experience. This is why we take this very seriously. The pricing varies depending on the amount of people involved and it becomes incrementally cheaper the more people you have in your group.

Our Services

At Ventura Surf Lessons, we offer a variety of services designed to cater to your needs and enhance your surfing experience. Our surf lessons are two hours long, with the first thirty minutes spent on the beach discussing safety information and conditions, practicing the pop-up, and then spending the rest of the time in the water getting you as many waves as possible. The pricing includes the boards, leashes, wetsuits, and wetsuit booties which we also provide. We're also proud to be the only surf lesson business in Ventura who also offers the option of getting 4K HD GoPro videos and pictures at an additional price of $30 per person.

Our paddleboard lessons are designed for those aged 12 and up, and are conducted in a similar manner to our surf lessons, ensuring you receive the same level of expertise and attention. We host surf lessons for ages ranging from 4 yrs. and up, and paddleboard lessons from 12 yrs. and up.
