The Providence High School Band program is a comprehensive band program that consists of three concert ensembles, a Marching Band, a Winter Guard, a Percussion ensemble, a Jazz Band, and various chamber ensembles. Since its inception in 1989, the program has earned a rich history of quality music education and outstanding performances, serving over 200 students.

Our mission is to provide a well-rounded music education experience that fosters growth, discipline, and teamwork among our students. We strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment where students can develop their musical skills, build lasting relationships, and create lifelong memories.

Our History
The Providence Bands have been led by several outstanding band directors, whose leadership and service to music education have been noted in the South Central District and throughout the state of North Carolina. Dr. Robert Maddox, Mr. Ron Payne, Mr. Paul Jackson, Mr. Joshua K. Potter, and Mr. Nicholas W. Blackwood have all played a significant role in shaping the band program into what it is today.
Our Achievements
The Providence HS Band program has earned numerous Superior Ratings and First Place Awards in Marching Band Contests, Winter Guard Contests, and Concert Ensemble Music Performance Adjudication. The Pride of Providence Marching Band has traveled throughout North Carolina, performing and competing in various events, including the Bands of America Regional Championship. The Winter Guard has made finals at WGI Regional Championships and CWEA Circuit Medalists. The Wind Ensemble has been invited to perform at the NC Music Educator's Conference on two occasions.
