His journey began with hands-on experience as a wildland firefighter on the Stanislaus Hotshots and as a salmon fisherman in Alaska. These demanding roles honed his work ethic and problem-solving skills, preparing him for the challenges of the construction industry. Inspired to give back to his hometown of Tuolumne, Shawnn sought out mentorship from renowned builders in Twain Harte and surrounding areas. He absorbed their knowledge and techniques, laying the foundation for his successful career.

In 2007, Shawnn earned his General Contractor's License and officially launched Flannery Construction. Driven by a passion for building and a desire to help residents realize their vision, he focused on new residential construction, remodels, decks, and stamped concrete. From building homes from the ground up to restoring century-old structures, Shawnn's expertise spans a wide spectrum of projects. His work can be seen throughout Tuolumne County, a testament to his dedication and skill.

Beyond construction, Shawnn is deeply invested in the well-being of Tuolumne County. He has consistently supported Summerville High School, his alma mater, through both hard work and sponsorships. His commitment extends to Habitat for Humanity and fire restoration efforts at Sonora Elementary School.
