Art Smith Aviation Academy

Art Smith Aviation Academy is an innovative and unique educational institution located within the heart of 4 Wing Cold Lake, Canada's largest fighter base. Our school is an alternative program school within Northern Lights Public Schools, offering a comprehensive K to 9 program in English and K to 6 French Immersion program to families in the surrounding area. Our unique location provides an inspirational learning environment, with the roar of overhead jets serving as a constant reminder of the importance of education and resilience.

Our Programs

At Art Smith Aviation Academy, we offer a range of programs designed to cater to the diverse needs of our students. Our Aviation Focus program allows students to explore their interest in aviation and develop their skills in a supportive and interactive environment. Our French Immersion program provides students with the opportunity to learn French as a second language and develop their language skills. Additionally, we offer programs in Aviation Focus, French Immersion, Kindergarten Out of School Care, Student Advocacy Counsellor Services, and Athletics.

Support Services

We understand that every student learns differently and requires individualized support. At Art Smith Aviation Academy, we offer a range of support services to ensure students receive the help they need to succeed. Our Student Advocacy Counsellor provides support to students, parents, and teachers, while our Counsellor Services offer individual and group counseling sessions to address the social, emotional, and academic needs of our students.

Aviation Program

Our Aviation Program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of aviation and its applications. From flight simulation to aviation mechanics, our program is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to pursue a career in the aviation industry. Our program is also supported by members of the Canadian Forces and Department of National Defence, who serve as positive role models and provide expertise and guidance to our students.

About Our School

Named after Second World War pilot Art Smith, our school is dedicated to the values of leadership, teamwork, and innovation. Our school is proud to be a part of the Military Families Support Society (MFSS), a registered society responsible for the lease of our building and advising as a key stakeholder of the academy. The MFSS is composed of five members, all of whom share an interest in education and experience in aviation. We are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that fosters the growth and development of all our students.
