Jki Engineering

We are a professional engineering firm located in the heart of Southern Indiana's "limestone country" in Bedford, Indiana. Our principals are Professional Engineers and each is registered in several states. We specialize in the design of safe and reliable anchorage, support, and structural back-up systems for natural stone cladding products such as Indiana limestone, dolomitic limestone, granite, slate, sandstone, and other stones. We also perform the same engineering design services for other cladding products such as cast stone and architectural precast concrete.

Our Story

The history of JKI Engineering begins with Hugh F. Kluesner, Jr. After receiving his degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University, he worked his way up through the ranks of the Indiana limestone industry, eventually becoming President of Indiana Limestone Company. From this position, Mr. Kluesner saw a need for stone cladding engineers, "Engineers highly specialized in the design of natural stone cladding." In 1980, Mr. Kluesner resigned as President of Indiana Limestone Company to start Kluesner Engineering, Inc. His first project was the limestone cladding engineering of The American United Life Building in Indianapolis, then the tallest building in Indiana, now known as One America Tower. In 1996, at the age of 70 and with nearly 50 years experience in the limestone business, Mr. Kluesner decided to semi-retire and spend more time with his hobby, racing Triumph Spitfires! Hugh F. Our Staff

Gary L. Kuehn, P.E., is a founding principal of JKI Engineering, Inc. and is the current President. Charles W. Jones, P.E., is a founding principal of JKI Engineering, Inc. and is the current Vice President and Treasurer. Barry Kinser is the chief draftsman, stone estimator, and engineering technician. Barry has been with JKI Engineering since its inception. Greg Dunn is a draftsman, engineering technician, and stone estimator. Greg has been with JKI Engineering since 1997. Linda Batman is our office manager and receptionist, as well as our bookkeeper. Linda has been with JKI Engineering since 2023.
