Our Story
In 1973, Albert Voorthuis opened the first Voorthuis Opticians with a vision to change the way Washington sees eye care. With a focus on customer service, emphasis on superior quality, and offering a greater choice in high-end eyewear, we went against the conventional wisdom of offering customers a limited number of frames to choose from. Instead, we began offering hundreds of frames representing signature brands from around the world, many of which had never been offered in the United States before. Over the years, we have evolved from a one-location optical store to an eight-location optometry and optical practice, but our vision and philosophy have remained unchanged.

Eye Examinations
Because your eye health comes first, each Voorthuis location has an on-site optometrist who performs eye examinations and contact lens fittings. Our optometrists are dedicated to providing professional service with a human touch, helping you select the perfect frames, creating the perfect lenses to fit your life, and ensuring that you receive the best possible eye care.
Frames and Lenses
We look at you as an individual with unique needs. We work with you to select eyewear that enhances your personal style, comfort, and eye protection. Our selection of unique frame designs and materials includes cutting-edge designers, high-tech materials, and luxury fashion brands. We offer a wide range of lens types, including single vision, progressive, bifocal, and specialty lenses, as well as contact lenses and sunglasses.
