Mamma Lucia's story is one of friendship, shared passions, and a dedication to authentic Italian cuisine. It all began when Bruno, owner of the bustling Mamma Lucia in Rockville, MD, crossed paths with Jimmy, a fellow restauranteur with a thriving establishment called "Jimmy's Place" in Gaithersburg. Introduced by a mutual friend, their shared love for the restaurant business blossomed into a powerful partnership.

Bruno, a native New Yorker, was raised by Italian immigrant parents from Rome and Naples. His culinary journey began at the tender age of 14, working alongside his father in their family Italian restaurant. Jimmy, a proud Washingtonian, founded "Jimmy's Place" after leaving the real estate world, driven by an unwavering commitment to excellent customer service. Together, their contrasting yet complementary backgrounds fueled a vibrant synergy. In 1997, the two joined forces, transforming Mamma Lucia into a beloved regional institution. Since then, they have expanded their family, opening doors to new locations in Bethesda, Olney, and Fallsgrove, spreading the joy of authentic Italian cooking throughout the DMV.
