"Play is the highest form of research." - Albert Einstein

At Pilgrim Community Preschool, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment that fosters the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth of every child. Our mission is to create a sense of community and belonging among our students, families, and staff. We believe that play serves as the highest form of research, and our experienced educators design engaging and interactive learning experiences that stimulate growth and exploration.

Our History

Established in 1966, Pilgrim Community Preschool has been an integral part of Oak Park and surrounding communities for over 55 years. We are proud to have served generations of families, providing a unique and supportive learning environment that honors the diversity and individuality of each child.

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is rooted in the understanding that every child develops at their own pace, and we believe that early childhood programs should be planned to stimulate the balanced growth of a child. We recognize that each child has a unique rate of development, which should not be hurried or forced. We value and accept different levels of development and ability, and we believe that parents and families play an essential role in their child's education.

Our Approach

Our approach is centered around play-based learning, where young children learn best through self-selected, hands-on experiences and active participation with their environment. We create an environment rich in sensory experiences, which encourages children to explore and discover their surroundings. Our passionate educators nurture individual growth, providing a sense of security, comfort, and belonging.

Our Faculty

Our faculty consists of experienced and nurturing educators who encourage play, discovery, and growth. Our team is dedicated to creating a loving and supportive learning environment that fosters a sense of community and belonging among our students and families.

Our Community

At Pilgrim Community Preschool, we believe that community is key to a successful educational experience. We rely on the service and commitment of families to help foster a positive educational environment and build a strong sense of community. We strive to create a sense of belonging among our students, families, and staff, and we believe that our diverse community is our greatest strength.

Our Accreditation

Pilgrim Community Preschool is accredited by NAEYC, the State of Illinois, and DCFS, demonstrating our commitment to providing a high-quality early childhood education. We are proud to have earned this recognition, which reflects our dedication to excellence in education.
