At Westerly Jewelry, we pride ourselves on being a family-owned and operated business, with a rich history dating back to 1934. Our story begins with Aaron Hirschkovits, a skilled jeweler and watchmaker from Poland who immigrated to the United States to escape persecution. Two of his sons, Samuel and Henry, also immigrated and settled in Boston. However, Samuel's store on Hanover Street wasn't thriving due to the Great Depression. After consulting with a salesman, he decided to move to Westerly, Rhode Island, where he established the foundation of what would become Westerly Jewelry.

Our History

In 1934, Samuel Hirsch opened the doors to his jewelry store on 64 High Street in Westerly. This marked the beginning of a long and storied history for Westerly Jewelry. Over the years, the business has been passed down through generations of the Hirsch family. Kevin Algiere, the current owner, is the great-nephew of the original owner, Aaron Hirschkovits.

Our team of experts, including Kevin Algiere, a Graduate Gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), is dedicated to providing the highest level of customer service. With a combined 70 years of experience between Kevin and his colleague, Sherry Ornberg, we take pride in our ability to assist our customers in finding the perfect piece of jewelry or gemstone.
