Our Mission and Services

The Durham Bicycle Cooperative is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit community bicycle project dedicated to making biking accessible for everyone in Durham. Our mission is to promote cycling as a healthy fitness and wellness activity while advocating for sound environmental practices, sustainable economics, and social equality. We offer a variety of services including hands-on repair skill share, an earn-a-bike program, and community outreach clinics. Volunteers and donations are always welcome!

Repair and Maintenance Services

At the DBC, you can repair your bike with an extensive set of tools and recycled bike parts. Our volunteer mechanics are available to help you fix your bike, and we also offer a hands-on bike repair and maintenance program where you can learn to fix your own bike. If you're looking to earn a bike, we have a program where you can work with a mechanic to fix up a bicycle in exchange for the bike.

Community Outreach and Education

We believe in the power of bicycles to make our local communities better. That's why we engage in community outreach and education through clinics and events. Our mobile clinic offers free bicycle repair at various locations around the city, and we also have programs specifically designed for new political refugees and youth in Durham.

Membership and Support

Joining the Durham Bicycle Cooperative is a great way to support our mission. For just $30 per year, you'll gain access to the shop and co-op tools, assistance from our volunteer mechanics, and a fun, community environment. Donations are also welcome and are fully tax-deductible. You can even donate by check or make a one-time or monthly donation. Donors who give $250 and above will be listed on our website.
