Making Your Deliveries Easy
Our Story
From a humble beginning in a Firestone, Colorado garage in the year 2000, Mark and Sharon Rients founded UME Custom after purchasing their first single head embroidery machine from a family member. Sharon was seeking a side hustle that would allow her to balance work with raising her three children, while Mark was traveling for Coca Cola. Recognizing the quality of the initial machine was not up to their high standards, they invested in their first professional 1 head embroidery machine. For almost a decade, this machine was the backbone of the company, with their children occasionally helping with production during the summer or off-school hours.
Expansion and Growth
As the business grew, more customers requested screen printed items alongside embroidery. Initially, these services were contracted out to larger printers in the area, but Sharon envisioned offering these services in-house. This led to significant investments, including the purchase of a 4 head manual screen printing press in 2013 and a fully automated 6 head printing press. In 2016, UME moved to a 2500 square foot production facility in Fort Lupton, allowing for further expansion and equipment purchases. In 2019, Mark and Sharon decided to bring drag and laser engraving into their in-house capabilities to support local businesses. Most recently, in 2021, they acquired their first direct to garment printer for printing photo-quality images directly onto clothing.
